Every partnership is exciting for us, but it becomes even more meaningful when our creators already have a deep passion for the brand they’re working with.
When that happens, the collaboration tends to come together more naturally, creating a smooth experience for everyone involved and a campaign that feels authentic from start to finish.
With his longtime love for the franchise, Thomas Wu was a natural fit to collaborate with The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) on their recent campaign.
As Pokémon Go continues to evolve its player experience, the launch of the new “What’s Your Favorite?” AR (augmented reality) camera feature gave fans a fun new way to interact with their favorite Pokémon!
The whole experience highlighted the playful possibilities of the feature while giving Thomas the freedom to create content that felt authentic to both his personality and to the community. The feature was introduced as part of the game’s 10th anniversary celebration but also The Pokémon Company’s broader international 30th anniversary milestone!
So… what is it?
The “What’s Your Favorite” AR camera feature allows users to take a photo of themselves and generate an image alongside their chosen Pokémon character. By blending augmented reality with fan-favorite Pokémon, the feature encourages players to create and share their own Pokémon moments.
Naturally, Thomas had to include some of his favorites: Gengar, along with Greninja, and Mew!
A Collaboration Fueled by Real Fans
As a longtime fan, Thomas brought genuine enthusiasm to the partnership. His outgoing and energetic personality aligned perfectly with the spirit of the campaign, and the brand recognized the opportunity to work with someone who could authentically share the experience with his audience.
He even brought his sister, Amelia Wu, along to take photos and join in on the fun! As a classic Thomas-style, he also included a few of his cars in the photos, adding his personal touch that reflected his personality and style.
Partnerships such as this, creates the impact of pairing brands with creators who truly align with the product or experience being shared. When creators are already fans, the excitement translates naturally into the content, making campaigns feel less like ads and more like real moments!
Just a fan, genuinely excited to be here!
At The Viralist Group, we’re always excited to help create partnerships like this, connecting brands with creators who can bring campaigns to life in ways that feel authentic and impactful.
