The Rise of J-Beauty, Told by the Girlies Who Get It!
AUTHOR: justine diesta Mei Monte and Carissa Slagle for PDC X Senka
Conversations around beauty have always put the Korean craze front and center, but lately, J-Beauty has been quietly stepping into its own spotlight. Rooted in simplicity and easy, the Japanese skincare is resonating with audiences who want routines that feel effortless but still effective.
And when it comes to bringing that beauty mantra in life, sometimes it just takes the right voices: the girlies that get it!
Meet the Moment: Mei Monte & Carissa Slagle for PDC X Senka
When PDC X Senka returned for another collaboration, it was a natural next step (just like putting on sunscreen everyday!) Following a successful partnership last year, the brand reached out once again and is looking to tap into the interest around Japanese skincare. From our wide list of beauty creators, Mei Monte and Carissa Slagle stood out.
Mei’s content frequently features Japanese culture and that familiarity became an advantage. Rather than just introducing J-Beauty, she only continued the conversation she was already having with her audience, sometimes turning them into playlists! The collaboration felt right at home, seamlessly integrating into what her audience trusted and recognized!
Carissa, known for her storytelling style, walked the viewers through, step by step, into J-Beauty. She approached the campaign with the kind of guidance that will make all the difference for someone who is just getting into J-Beauty for the first time. The collaboration did not overwhelm, it felt like you were catching up with a girl friend.
When the Girlies Get It… It Shows
The campaign received positive impact from the brand, well, not only because the videos performed well (see report here!) across both Mei and Carissa’s platforms, but also on the overall experience working with The Viralist Group.
“Upon submission of the draft videos, there were no revisions requested. They also mentioned that they enjoy working with us because we are always fast with deliverables and always deliver quality!” - Hannah Matta, Talent Manager
This just shows that when creators get it, you see it in more than just the numbers but you also feel it in the content.
As J-Beauty continues to grow globally, it’s creators like Mei and Carissa who help shape how it’s experienced by audiences because at the end of the day, the most effective storytelling comes from creators who have gained the trust of their audience, because they consistently show authenticity and connect with their audience.
And in this case, the girlies REALLY did get it!
